In 2024, the seven main construction companies in Spain experienced significant growth in their income, reaching the record of 82,578 million euros, which represents an increase of 11.9% compared to the previous year. This growth contrasts with the negative tendency observed in the sector worldwide, according to the annual report ‘Global Powers of Construction’ prepared by Deloitte.
Growth compared to global reduction
The report reveals that, despite the deceleration in the income of the 100 main construction companies worldwide, which decreased by 1% to 1.97 billion dollars (1.7 billion euros), Spanish companies managed to stand out with positive performance.
Outstanding presence in the international arena
Spain maintains its presence with seven companies among the 100 largest sought from the sector worldwide, among which are ACS, Actiona, Ferrovial, FCC, Sacyr, Ohla and Grupo San Jose. It emphasizes that the first three Spanish companies are among the 10 largest European construction companies, thus consolidating the country’s position in the global construction market.
Positioning in the world ranking
In the world ranking, Spanish companies are positioned as follows: ACS in the tenth place with 38.6 billion euros, followed by acting at 20th with 17.8 billion, Ferrovial at 41 with 8.5 billion, FCC at 42 with 8.4 billion, Sacyr in 63 with 4.3 billion, Ohla in 70 with 3.4 billion and San José in 93 with 1,500 million.
Stock capitalization and international projection
Ferrovial and ACS also stand out in the field of stock capitalization, staying among the 30 companies with greater capitalization. Ferrovial retains its position in sixth place with a revaluation of 13.3%, while ACS experienced a growth of 17.8%, climbing from 18 to 16 in the ranking.
International projection and leadership
In terms of sales abroad, ACS is the second company with the greatest weight in total numbers, with 41,145 million dollars (35.3 billion euros), only surpassed by the French company Vinci.
Chinese domain and European presence
Nivel GlobalChina continues to dominate the ranking with seven companies in the Top 10being China State Construction Engineering the first with 261,000 million euros. France, on the other hand, keeps Vini in the sixth place and Bouygues in the eighth, with 66,000 and 52,000 million euros respectively, while Spain stands out with ACS in the tenth position.
