Google has taken the last steps to permanently replace the Google Assistant with Gemini.

As reported by Android Authority, the company is preparing an update to the Gemini app that will completely eliminate the option to return to the old assistant, leaving users of the ecosystem only with Gemini.

Until now, the Gemini application offered a configuration that allowed you to choose between both assistants, but that screen will disappear in the next versions. This means that the veteran Google Assistant has its days numbered and will be completely replaced by the new system powered by generative artificial intelligence.

The update will also bring several visual and functional improvements to Gemini. In version 16.44.59 of the application Found a new processing animation that displays while the system works on user queries.

Buttons to expand or collapse long messages could also be incorporated, a useful feature for keeping conversations cleaner and more organized, along with a “skip to the end” button to quickly move to the end of a long chat.

Gemini will integrate more advanced functions, such as “Deep Research”, which will allow the selection and control of information sources used by artificial intelligence. With this, Google seeks to strengthen its position in the field of intelligent assistants against rivals such as ChatGPT or Copilot.

Although there is still no official date for the complete withdrawal, Everything indicates that the change will be irreversible in the coming months. That is, if you are using Google Assistant, you will have to adapt to Gemini sooner or later, whether you like it or not.
