Microsoft is eliminating the long-standing “Reuse Slides” option from PowerPoint on both Windows and macOS starting in January, a feature that has been available for more than a decade and that you have probably used on more than one occasion.

The company considers that this tool has become redundantespecially with the arrival of Copilot and other artificial intelligence features integrated into Microsoft 365.

As you well know, the “Reuse Slides” function allows you to import slides from other PowerPoint presentations and preserve their original format. From the side panel, the user can choose which slides to incorporate and whether to keep the original design or just the content.

According to Microsoft, There are already alternatives integrated into PowerPoint that offer similar functionalities. In a statement posted to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, the company confirmed that the withdrawal process will begin in December and will be completed the following month.

Among the recommended alternatives, Microsoft suggests using the “New Window” function, available in the View tab, which allows you to duplicate an existing presentation and work with both versions in parallel. Another option is to open both presentations at the same time and drag and drop the desired slides, in most cases keeping the animations and multimedia elements.

The “Reuse Slides” option has been especially useful for those who work with large volumes of presentations and need to integrate content without losing formatting. Its disappearance will mark the end of a very practical tool for thousands of users who depended on it in their daily lives.
