These payments, usable in any establishment that accepts Visa or QR, allow payment in pesos or cryptocurrencies that are automatically converted into the local currency for the recipient. In addition, they give cashback in bitcoin (BTC) for each purchase, which attracts those looking to have money in this currency.
The percentage of payments in cryptocurrencies was around 10% of total payments in Lemon, with the most used being tether (USDT). This is the stablecoin with the largest capitalization, which maintains the same price as the US dollar.
The most common use case for payments is for users who They make their consumption in pesos and accumulate fractions of bitcoin thanks to cashback. This model has already delivered 270 BTC, equivalent to about 30 million dollars (USD).
For purchases with the card, Lemon allows you to receive 2% cashback in bitcoin if paid with cryptocurrencies or 0.5% if paid with pesos. For QR payments, the cashback is 1% in bitcoin if it is paid with crypto assets and 0.25% if it is with the national currency.
In addition to this cryptocurrency exchange, there are other options in the Argentine market. Among them are Belo, which offers a Mastercard card, Ripio, which has a Visa with cashback in USDT, BTC or ETH, and Buenbit, which offers one with cashback in company shares.
