Microsoft has begun rolling out an update for Windows 11 that introduces a feature very similar to Google Lens, integrated directly into the operating system.

The Snipping tool now incorporates the functionality called Bing Visual Searchwhich allows you to perform visual searches from screenshots, similar to what Android phones already offer with Google Lens technology.

This feature arrives with version 11.2508.29.0 of the application and is now available to all Windows 11 users.

When capturing an area of the screen with the Snipping tool, the image is sent directly to the Bing visual engine, which analyzes the capture to find related information or translate the text that appears.

It should be remembered that Microsoft decided to introduce Visual Search just after Google launched its new experimental application for Windows in the United States, which integrates Google Lens into the desktop.

There are some notable differences. In the snipping tool, visual search opens a new tab in Microsoft Edge, momentarily interrupting your workflow.

Instead, Google Lens in the Windows app works as a floating widget, performing the entire process without leaving the desktop.

In any case, the Microsoft option includes several additional functions that make the Snipping tool a very complete option since it integrates Text recognition to directly copy text from a screenshot; color selector, to obtain the HEX code of any tone in the image; advanced capture options, such as copying to clipboard or saving to specific folders; Live annotations and a Copilot buttonwhich allows the image to be sent to the artificial intelligence assistant for queries or content generation.

In this way, the Clipping tool with the new Visual Search functionality is consolidated as a native, powerful and easy-to-use alternative, especially for those looking for direct integrations with Bing and Copilot.
