Grenergy Renewables has presented its new Strategic Plan 2025-2027 during its capital Markets Day, where it has revealed its intention to accelerate its commitment to energy storage, in the context of some investments that will reach 3.5 billion euros in the next three years.
With this investment plan, Grenergy will allocate around 1.2 billion euros to photovoltaic energy projects and about 2.1 billion euros to energy storage with batteries (Bess). The company has set the objective of achieving an installed gross capacity of 4.4 gigawatts (GW) in solar energy and 18.8 Gigawatts hour (GWh) in storage in batteries by the year 2027.
The Grenergy Strategic Plan until 2027 will focus on the hybridization of solar plants with battery storage, following the successful model of its Oasis de Atacama project in Chile and Spain.
The flagship project in Spain will be Escuderos, which will have a capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) solar and 704 megawatts time (MWh) storage, divided into two phases: Escuderos 1 and Escuderos 2, located in Castilla-La Mancha.
Grenergy has also announced the launch of Greenbox, its new battery platform (Standalone) in Europe. The company will bet on uninterrupted management 24/7 of solar energy thanks to storage, through its marketer in Chile, GR Power.
In addition, to finance these projects, Grenergy will reinforce its asset rotation strategy, with the aim of generating 800 million euros between 2025 and 2027. The company will also support its experience in ‘Project Finance’, as demonstrated in the financial closure for Oasis de Atacama.
As for the gross exploitation result (EBITDA) for the energy business, Grenergy estimates that at the end of 2027 it will be located Between 450 and 500 million eurosdriven by the incorporation of energy storage systems with batteries.
The company also plans to expand its solar hybridization and storage model in Chile, with projects such as Central Oasis, with an expected 1.1 GW of solar energy and 3.8 GWh storage.
The Greenbox platform will focus on the main European markets where Grenergy already operates, such as Poland, Romania, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The objective is to achieve 3 GWh in operation and construction by 2027.
In Spain, Oviedo will be Greenbox’s flagship project, with a total capacity of 600 MWh, whose construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026 and be operational in 2027.
