astronauts on the mission Artemis II They continue orbiting the Earth. In a few hours they will begin the journey to the Moon. During this first day, some curious incidents occurred. The toilet has broken down, and Outlook multiplies by spontaneous generation, and it doesn’t work.

Do astronauts use Windows 11 computers? Do they really use Outlook to check email? Why doesn’t it work in space? NASA hasn’t given answers, so we can only speculate.

If Windows 11 despairs you with its bugs and its patches that correct patches, console yourself: Not even NASA astronauts are able to understand Outlook…

NASA’s problems with software

In the previous video you can listen to one of the Control Center conversations. Astronaut Reid Wiseman tells them: «I see I have two versions of Outlook, and I can’t understand why. Neither one works.» The Control Center operator tells him that they will connect remotely to his PC to see what is happening.

NASA is unlikely to use Windows 11 computers for official astronaut operations. NASA has always used Linuxdue to its open source status and because it is simply more reliable. You don’t want to miss a Windows update while you’re landing on the Moon…

As a novelty in this mission, Astronauts have been able to take their personal cell phones and laptops to the Moon. Several iPhones have been seen, and some have an Android mobile. Astronaut Reid Wiseman may be trying to use Outlook on his personal laptop, and it’s not working.

Astronauts are very well-trained intelligent people, almost all of them are engineers trained to solve the most complicated problems in space. But Good old Reid Wiseman doesn’t know why he has two Outlook installations, and neither works for him. All Windows users understand you perfectly, we have suffered behaviors that are impossible to explain…

Microsoft recently released a new version of Outlook, which has some limitations compared to Classic Outlook, which is why many people have both versions, because they refuse to uninstall classic. It’s the same story as with Windows 10….

We don’t know if they have solved the problem. But something tells me that Wiseman is going to spend ten days checking his email…

Except for these small incidents, The Orion spacecraft is fulfilling mission plans. In a few hours it will activate engines towards the Moon, which it will reach in three days. It will circle our satellite for a day, taking in parts of the Moon that have never been seen by human eyes, and return to Earth for the next four days. Hopefully Outlook will be working by then…
