Microsoft has confirmed the deployment of a special and reviewed security update for some systems with the 24h2 version of Windows 11, specifically, those that proved to be incompatible with the original cumulative update, launched during the day of special patches on Tuesday of this June.
«This update is gradually implemented in Windows 11 devices, 24h2 version. We have identified a compatibility problem that affects a limited set of these devices,» the company explained in a statement in X. «If your team is affected, you will receive a reviewed update with all the June security improvements in the next few days.»
The Redmond added that the June 2025 security update is now available for all other compatible versions.
The funny thing is that Microsoft has not confirmed which hardware or software configurations are causing this compatibility failure or how the systems are exactly affected after installing this original patch on Tuesday in June.
Likewise, it is not clear if it is the first time that Microsoft He publishes an alternative version of an update of Tuesday patches to solve compatibility problems, or if this will be a procedure that will also use in the future.
That same day, Microsoft launched the cumulative updates KB5060842 and KB506099 that corrected 66 vulnerabilities in versions 24h2 and 23h2 of Windows 11.
They also published the cumulative update KB5060533 for Windows 10 version 22h2, which restored the seconds on the calendar clock and corrected certain errors.
