As you have surely heard, Openai launched GPT-5 officially in August 2025 with faster, faster, precise artificial intelligence promises almost from another planet, which integrated multiple models into one. According to Sam Altman’s company, it comes with improvements in programming, writing, medicine and the ability to understand contexts as never before.

However, a few days after their arrival, some users and critics have already revealed to the world that the experience with Chatgpt has worsened: bugs, slowness and lack of reliability seem to stain the image that Openai wanted to convey.

Altman has precisely acknowledged a technical problem that made GPT-5 seem «less intelligent» for a failure In the automatic model selection system.

But the problem seems to go further and there are users complaining that the previous versions of the model have been completely set aside. Taking into account that many of them pay monthly for them, the truth is that the situation is critical.

The most curious thing about all this is that Bill Gates, already famous for his predictions, already warned two years ago what he was going to arrive, making it quite clear that improvements in GPT type models could be reaching their limit.

Now, with GPT-5 out of the oven, his words seem to be taking shape, since it is true that humanity is not facing a radical change, but an evolution that could happen without penalty or glory. Of course, let’s not even talk about AGI.

Why has GPT-5 not caused the expected effect?

Of course there is progress, but far from that almost absolute magic that was promised with the arrival of GPT-5. The truth is that each generation of AI models such as GPT has meant before and after with a GPT-4 that was a brutal change in capacity, understanding and usability.

But now, with GPT-5, the progress seems to be concentrated in refining, unifying functions and improving technical-complex details that are not so visual by users. This is that it is something totally normal.

Simply, When parts of very high levels, climbing another step is colossal efforts that do not always generate large holders or an authentic revolution immediately. Thus, the feeling is that GPT-5 is more a whole in one than a jump as expected or sold.

Of course, the smoke of expectations does not help. Openai and his CEO, Sam Altman, have sold GPT-5 as if it were even AGI. This in the end has generated a hypeillusion and a lot of pressure, which, definitely, has collided with reality.

This, of course, will happen more times than companies will be willing to admit. The current situation regarding AI is maturation. If before a user went from a chatbot with quite fair capabilities to another capable of creating texts and solving very complicated problems, Now the difference is more subtle, less spectacular.

Definitely, nothing of AGI. In addition, hundreds of experts in AI have already made it quite clear and claim that there is much to achieve this.

Specifically, a few months ago, the Association for the Advance of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) published a report in its digital magazine, with a survey of more than 450 experts in AI of the world. 76% think that current models such as Chatgpt, no matter how much they are scaled, will never reach general artificial intelligence.
