We have different browsers to choose for both our personal computers and mobile phones, and over time they lose support for the different operating systems.

Although Windows 7 and 8.1 stopped receiving official support in January 2023, Mozilla continues to offer security updates for Firefox 115 ESR in these versions.

Mozilla has reported that this situation will continue until March 2026although they will review it again in February next year.

Last year, a Mozilla engineer explained that maintaining Windows 7 with his small market share «is increasingly painful due to the divergence that naturally occurs over time.»

In any case, it seems that sufficient number of users justifies that the company continues to provide security updates.

With this, Firefox It becomes the only first level browser that continues to offer support for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1while developers are already planning the end of support in Windows 10.

Since the same message has been used as in their previous communications, It could not be ruled out that Firefox 115 ESR ends up receiving more updates after February next year.
