Vanguard, one of the main US investment fund managers, has increased its participation in Banco Sabadelluntil reaching 4.67% of the entity’s capital. This movement occurs at a crucial moment, in the middle of the public acquisition offer (OPA) launched by BBVA on the Catalan bank, according to Bloomberg records.
Vanguard participation details
Vanguard has approximately 234 million titles from Banco Sabadell, both through the group’s matrix and its various funds. Although in some cases the vanguard participation in the entity does not reach the 1% necessary to notify the National Securities Market (CNMV) commission, together they represent 4.67% of the company. The market value of this participation amounts to about 786.2 million euros, considering the current price of Sabadell’s shares, which is 3.36 euros per title after registering a 1.67% increase in Wednesday’s session.
Other significant shareholders at Banco Sabadell
In addition to Vanguard, other relevant shareholders at Banco Sabadell are Blackrock, with a 7.36% participation, and the Zurich insurer, which has 4.95% of the shares. According to Bloomberg data, Dimensional Fund and Fintech Europe have 4.14% and 3.86% shares, respectively.
BBVA OPA Context
The acquisition of Banco Sabadell by BBVA has begun the period of acceptance of the OPA, in which the entity chaired by Carlos Torres has established as a condition that more than half of the voting rights of the Catalan bank accept the offer, excluding the motor. The counterpart offered by BBVA consists of an action of the entity and a cash payment of 0.70 euros per 5,5483 shares of Banco Sabadell.
