Since 2018, the United States Mint has been launching a series of commemorative coins dedicated to innovation and technology in each of the states and territories of the country. In 2026 it is California’s turn, and Steve Jobs will be your representative on a one dollar coin.
The other three 2026 coins in this series will honor Dr. Norman Borlaug (Iowa), who developed resident pest crops, refrigerator trucks (Minnesota), and the Cray-1 supercomputer (Wisconsin), one of the first in history.
In previous years, the light bulb (New Jersey), the Hubble space telescope (Maryland) or astronauts (Texas) were honored.

This series, which honors technological advances in each North American state, will extend until 2032, with four coins each year.
