Why is technological innovation considered essential in the field of health today?

Because it is the lever that allows us to transform a health system that, despite the progress made, continues to face structural challenges: inequality in access, saturation of resources, aging of the population and long-term sustainability.

Technology applied to health not only improves efficiency and optimizes resources, but also brings medical care closer to more people, personalizes treatments, anticipates diagnoses and reduces unnecessary travel. In short, it turns the future into the present for many patients.

We are experiencing a profound transformation of the sector: the healthtech revolution. At Atrys Health, we are driving it with cutting-edge solutions in telemedicine, precision diagnosis and artificial intelligence. Betting on innovation in health is betting on a more equitable, efficient and resilient system, capable of responding to current and future challenges.

Our commitment is clear: to make quality health accessible to everyone, regardless of location or context. Because technology not only improves the lives of patients, it also generates a positive, sustainable and lasting economic and social impact.

How does telemedicine contribute to overcoming current challenges in healthcare?

Telemedicine is proving to be a fundamental pillar to overcome geographical barriers and the availability of specialists.

Through tools such as videoconferencing, shared medical image systems and digital platforms for remote diagnosis, we can treat thousands of patients, drastically reducing diagnosis and intervention times, a key factor in minimizing damage in these emergency cases.

A clear example of its potential is the Tele-Stroke system for stroke, a telemedicine system designed for the real-time diagnosis and treatment of strokes launched by Atrys Chile in collaboration with Interclínica. This innovative model addresses the lack of specialized neurologists in remote regions, connecting our specialists with doctors in real time to make immediate therapeutic decisions.

Furthermore, also to reach where resources are needed or where there are fewer, we have partnered in Chile with Agfa, HPE and Sonda to introduce an innovative model of access to top-level technology through payment for service, eliminating the need for large initial investments.

What role does artificial intelligence play when combined with telemedicine?

The impact of telemedicine is multiplied when combined with the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI). This synergy allows suspicious exams to be identified more quickly, optimize specialists’ time and focus their efforts on cases that require clinical attention.

At Atrys, we already apply AI tools that analyze electrocardiograms in seconds, detect abnormal patterns on chest x-rays, and prioritize imaging exams on waiting lists. We do not replace the doctor, but we ensure that his time, knowledge and experience are focused on what really matters: the most complex and urgent cases.

Tasks that a doctor could previously perform 50 times in a shift can now be performed 100 or even 150, without compromising quality but rather improving it thanks to the support offered by this technology.

Are concrete results already being produced from these technologies?

We lead a pilot program in Santiago de Chile, where we combine telemedicine services and artificial intelligence to reduce waiting lists. The results have been overwhelming: an 88% reduction in care times and more than 8,000 patients treated in specialties such as cardiology, internal medicine, neurology and dermatology. This model is already expanding to other hospitals in the country. Thanks to tools like these, which we develop in the seven countries where we work, at Atrys we already make more than 8.4 million online diagnoses each year.

In Spain, during this summer, at Atrys we have especially reinforced our activity in holiday areas, where the increase in demand for emergency services has been significant. In regions such as the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and the Valencian Community, we significantly increased our Telediagnosis activity, collaborating with public and private hospitals to guarantee agile and quality care also in times of greatest healthcare pressure.

To what other areas of medicine can we link the technological revolution?

For example, to personalized genomics. Using advanced massive sequencing (NGS) techniques, at Atrys we analyze each patient’s DNA with unprecedented depth and reliability. This allows us to identify key genetic alterations, anticipate possible risks and design more personalized, effective and safe treatments. Our polygenic risk analysis allows us to more accurately predict the probability of developing common diseases with a hereditary component, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases or certain types of cancer.

Additionally, Low Pass whole genome sequencing and the use of AI allow us to interpret millions of genetic, clinical and lifestyle data, identifying complex patterns to offer personalized recommendations. This combination of tools facilitates more precise, effective and adapted prevention strategies for each person.

What does it mean to invest in health technology today?

Healthtech companies like Atrys are demonstrating with concrete facts that investment in health technology is strategic and has tangible results, both economic and social. In a landscape of growing healthcare demand and shortage of specialists, solutions that facilitate access and optimize medical care represent a clear opportunity, as reflected in our results.

In what sense can having a company like Atrys be relevant in the face of the great health challenges?

Having a pioneering company in the field of telemedicine, genomics, and AI like Atrys is not only a smart financial decision, it is a direct contribution to building a more equitable, efficient, and future-ready health system. It is the opportunity to be part of the solution to one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
