The emulator sector is taking giant steps and this opens up the possibility of powering games and programs from one device to another.

Winlator is one of them and, in this case, gives you the possibility of transforming your smartphone into a kind of mini PC with Windowsso you can run applications and games designed for Intel or AMD architecture, both in 32 and 64 bits, all from your mobile.

It is an emulator open source which works like Windows inside your Android and only requires you to download the official APK from GitHub on your mobile.

The wonderful thing about this is that you can adjust the power and memory according to the quality of your mobile, thus balancing the titles based on performance and battery. The interface takes you right to classic Windows with access to your folders and everything you’d expect.

To play or use apps, You just have to load .exe files that you have on your PC or copy entire games that you already have installed.

Of course, clarify that not everything is perfect, and, as expected, it does not work as well as it should with very demanding titles in graphics or very specific programs. In the end we talked about bringing something that works on a computer to the mobile phone. Specifications add limits.

In addition, emulation requires extra power, and the interface is not entirely touch-sensitive, so it is recommended to use a keyboard, mouse or controller for control.

That is why it is recommended above all for classic games, not very demanding programs or simply to have Windows on your mobile.

Version 1.0 of ARMSX2, the PlayStation 2 emulator for Android, lands

Continuing with the world of emulators, it was recently learned that ARMSX2 has reached version 1.0. For a bit of context, ARMSX2 is based on a newer version of the PCSX2 codethe quintessential emulator for PC, and is completely open source.

If you have followed this whole topic closely, you will know that PlayStation 2 emulation on Android phones has been on hold for some time after the fall of AetherSX2, the pioneering app that many already enjoyed. By stopping updating, the project was somewhat abandoned, and while other developers took over with tools like NetherSX2, they maintained old bases and closed code.

This is the great point to celebrate, since this opens all kinds of doors, despite the fact that for now its performance does not match NetherSX2.

However, The first user test confirms that version 1.0 still has problems to be resolved, so we must take this novelty with a grain of salt.. When testing it on current phones, such as the Vivo X Fold 5 or X300 Pro, the app closed after opening games or starting the BIOS. The developer team is already working to fix these bugs and also released a minor update (1.0.1) to improve all this.
