Since its launch at the end of 2022, ChatGPT has practically dominated the generative artificial intelligence market at will, establishing itself as the main reference among users.
Nevertheless, The latest data shows that the competition is starting to reduce its advantageespecially highlighting the growth of Gemini, Google’s chatbot, which in a few months has significantly increased its market share.
According to a report by Similarweb, ChatGPT currently supports around 72.3% of generative AI web trafficcompared to 13.7% for Gemini, which occupies second position. This means that Gemini has managed to double its traffic share in the last year, establishing itself as a real threat to OpenAI.
A year ago, ChatGPT controlled 86.6% of traffic, while Gemini barely managed 5.6%. During this period, other competitors, such as DeepSeek, emerged and achieved considerable use, although today they sit behind Gemini in the ranking of generative AI platforms.
Gemini has stood out not only for increasing its traffic share, but also to maintain constant growth. This contrasts with other competitors who have experienced more irregular increases.
The generative AI ecosystem has become increasingly competitive, with companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Anthropic trying to capture users and challenge ChatGPT’s supremacy.
Although ChatGPT remains the undisputed leader in generative artificial intelligence, Gemini is quickly gaining ground, doubling its traffic share and establishing itself as OpenAI’s main competitor in an increasingly contested market.
