Businessman David Martínez has presented his resignation as a proprietary director of Banco Sabadell, according to the information provided by the entity in a statement addressed to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
Transformation at Banco Sabadell
In his resignation letter, Martínez Guzmán highlighted that during the 12 years that he was part of the board of the Catalan entity, he has witnessed what he describes as «a transformation» in the bank. Likewise, he expressed his «deep gratitude» for the «resounding» success achieved by the president and the teams of Banco Sabadell.
Participation in BBVA’s takeover bid for Sabadell
It is worth mentioning that Martínez was the only director who expressed his intention to participate in the public acquisition offer (OPA) that ultimately did not materialize, carried out by BBVA for Banco Sabadell.
In this sense, the resignation of David Martínez as proprietary director of Banco Sabadell represents a significant change in the composition of the financial entity’s board, as well as a relevant moment in the bank’s history.
