A new form factor is going to revolutionize the size and use of storage devices. The new Mini SSD They are as small as a MicroSD card, but just as fast as an SSD.

The Chinese company Biwin has presented the new Mini SSD CL100which debuts the new 1517 form factor. With a size of only 15 x 17 x 1.4 mmmore or less like a 10 euro cent coin, is capable of storing between 512 GB and 2 TB of information.

Equipped with PCIe 4.0 and NVMe 1.4, It can read data at an impressive speed of 3,700 MB/s, and write it at 3,400 MB/s. And since it is an external SSD, it has IP68 protection against water and dust.

The secrets of the Biwin CL100 Mini SSD

How has this Chinese manufacturer achieved the benefits of an M.2 NVMe SSD in the size of a fingernail?

Biwin claims to have optimized technologies used by conventional SSDs, such as dynamic SLC cache, thermal regulation, wear leveling, HMB and SMART, to improve speed, durability and efficiency.

The only problem is that, since it is a new form factor, there are no connectors or slots to use it directly on current devices. So Biwin has prepared a Mini SD readerconnectable to any mobile or PC:

The Biwin RD510 Mini SSD reader connects via a USB Type C 4.0 cable, which reaches a transmission speed of up to 40 Gbps. It is compatible with Windows 10/11, PlayStation 5, macOS 11, Android 11 and soon, iOS 17 or higher.

Thanks to its extreme speed, it is ideal for tasks that require high reading and/or writing speed, such as 4K video editing, video games, training AI models, etc.

At the moment the Mini SSD Biwin CL100 It has only gone on sale in China, at a price of about 75 euros for the version with 512 GB, and 250 euros for the largest variant, with 2 TB of storage. If it came out in Spain, VAT would have to be added.
