Google has begun to deploy a major improvement to Google Maps responses within the Gemini app.

This change affects both mobile devices and computers and modifies the way information is displayed when a query depends on data from Google Maps.

Until now, when a user asked for information related to locations, restaurants, or points of interest in Gemini, the assistant responded primarily with text and left the map pinned at the end of the response.

With this new update, The map comes to the foreground, appearing at the beginning of the answer, followed by the explanatory text that expands the information..

Another novelty is that Google has introduced pins with emojis within the mapwhich makes it easy to quickly differentiate the different places mentioned in the answer. Thanks to this, it is easier to identify restaurants, shops or points of interest at a glance.

Additionally, each location featured by Gemini is now shown on an information card that includes an image of the placeyour star rating and a summary generated from Google Maps reviews.

This redesign makes sense because seeing the map from the first moment provides immediate context about the area consulted, helping to make decisions more quickly.

This new format of responses based on Google Maps is already being deployed, for the moment in English, for the Gemini application on both mobile and desktop versions.

For now, it is unknown when it will reach other languages, although it is common for these types of functions to be launched first in specific regions and expand globally weeks or months later.
