The CES 2026 fair in Las Vegas begins on January 6, but the companies participating have already begun to preview the products they will present. Samsung Displaythe screen division of the Korean company, surprises us with some “modernized” retro devices with OLED display and artificial intelligence.
Samsung Display has greatly improved the resistance of its OLED screensand at the fair it will demonstrate it using robots that will play basketball with a screen as a board.
It has also presented a series of very original products equipped with these screens, and AI: a record player, a cassette player, a robot, and XR glasses.
Physical formats are very alive for Samsung
Retro music in formats such as vinyl or cassette has returned in recent years. But technology has changed a lot, and just because you want to listen to vinyl doesn’t mean you have to do it with a player from the 80s. That’s why Samsung Display Imagine a retro future with round OLED screens, and lots of AI.
The most surprising thing is the cassette player that integrates two OLED touch screens of only 1.5 inches, in the holes through which the magnetic tape is rotated.
The Korean company has not revealed what they are for, but the only photo available gives us some clues:
We can see icons to control the battery, volume, and a clock or timer. Also the Bluetooth range. The other screen shows what looks like the playing time, songs and time.
Although it is not visible, from the screen we can control the playback, rewinding, and extraction of the cassette tape.
What we don’t know is what is AI used for. Maybe it recommends related songs, enhances audio, or displays information about the artist or lyrics.
As for the turntable, the OLED screen is in the center of the record. It is 13.4 inches in size, so it takes up almost all of the vinyl. The photo does not reveal anything, we do not know what it will be used for, beyond the functions of the player. But with that size it could even show the music video of the song we are listening to.
At CES 2026 Samsung Display will also show a robot with a round OLED screen instead of a head, and OLEDoS RGB screens for XR glasses with 5,000 dpi (dots per inch) and three times the resolution of a 4K television. Awesome!
