The price of bitcoin (BTC), which reached an all-time high of $126,000 (USD) three months ago, intensified the correction it has seen since then. Today it broke below 80,000, falling to levels it had not touched in more than eight months, since April 2025.
The movement heightens expectations that a bear market has begun that could continue to deepen. The $80,000 had functioned as support yesterday, as well as in a fall two months ago, so its loss today shows the weakness of demand.
After the breakout, bitcoin quickly declined to $75,000. Prior to this, bitcoin had almost never fallen below 80,000, since surpassing this level for the first time in history just over a year ago, in November 2024.

The only previous times bitcoin lost 80,000 was for brief periods between March and April of last year. The lowest it went then was $74,000, as can be seen below.
In this sense, according to the technical analysis, as reported by NoticiasVE, the market could test that level as support in case the selling pressure continues. Although, if this is tougher, lower points come into play, such as the consolidation zone between 49,000 and 73,000 that prevailed before exceeding 80,000.
Strong liquidations in the futures market
The fall of bitcoin dragged cryptocurrencies downward, wreaking havoc on the futures market. It caused liquidations of 2.3 billion dollars of leveraged positions that expected the rise of crypto assets.
This sell-off is the largest since October, when the price of bitcoin fell from its all-time high. Although, those then were significantly higher, for a value of 16,783 million dollars.
The situation It occurs in the midst of a context in which fears of greater risk aversion are growing due to the Trump administration’s tariff threats and geopolitical tensions.
