Google plans to change part of the interface of the Gemini application, opting for a more simplified design and even hiding some of the shortcuts most used by users.
According to Android Authority, in the latest beta version of the Google app Different adjustments have been detected in the contextual action buttons and in the organization of the interfaceaffecting options such as “Ask about a place”, “Ask about a PDF” or “Share conversation”.
Currently, by activating Gemini on certain apps, users can access these one-touch contextual actions directly in the overlay. For example, you can check the location of a place in Google Maps, open a PDF in Drive, or search for information in Chrome without leaving the application.
In current tests, Google is considering moving all these buttons to the Plus menurequiring additional steps to access the same features. This could make it difficult for many users to figure out these options, especially since they change depending on the app being used.
At the moment, Google has not explained the reasons behind these changes, although they could be part of a broader strategy to reorganize the Gemini interface and prepare new functionalities.
Another adjustment in development is the possibility of including the “Screen content” option within the Plus menu, which would replace the current “Ask about screen” function. Similarly, the “Share Conversation” option could be moved from the chat drop-down window to the top right corner of the main overlay, making it easier to access in future versions.
For now, None of these changes are publicly availableand some tweaks may never make it to the stable version. However, these tests show that Google is going for a cleaner and more organized structure, although some features could become less visible to regular users.
