Microsoft has added a new experimental feature to its Edge browser, which allows you to capture part of the screen directly from Copilot in the sidebar.
It couldn’t be any other way: Microsoft continues to incorporate functionalities based on artificial intelligence into its products, and its browser is no exception.
Until now, Copilot’s + menu allowed you to add images or files, generate images, start deep investigations, create questionnaires or add tabs to contextualize queries. With this new option, users can select “Take a Screenshot” to capture what appears on the screen and use it as context when asking Copilot questions.
When you choose the capture option, Edge opens its built-in editor, which includes cropping and marking tools. Once captured, clicking “Add to Clipboard” automatically inserts the image into the Copilot message box. This allows you to query Copilot about the image without manually attaching or pasting it..
This feature works with Copilot in Smart mode (GPT-5), although it will likely respond in other chat modes as well. Thanks to this integration, the need to change tools or manually attach images is eliminated, making it faster to obtain detailed explanations and analysis.
Microsoft has been incorporating Copilot into many of its products and services, not only in Windows 11, but also in its Edge browser, adapting the function to each platform.
For now, This option is only available in Edge Canarythe experimental version of the browser, but it is very likely that it will reach the stable version in future updates.
