Millions of people live alone at home, or are elderly or dependent people who need care, and their family members cannot provide it for work reasons. The Chinese company Mind with Heart Robotics Co. Ltd, specialized in therapeutic robots, has presented at CES 2026 a robot panda called An’An, designed for older people.
It is a new generation pet that not only keeps you company, like a dog or a cat, but also monitors the owner’s vital signsor reminds you of things to do. You can see it in this video:
A robotic pet that takes care of you
It must be admitted that, on the outside, An’An looks like a not very well finished stuffed animal, in a forced position, spread out. Actually it is a panda cub designed to give hugsor rest on your legs.
Inside it is equipped with 10 biometric sensorsincluding sensitive skin that reacts to caresses.
It is robot panda It moves slightly: it opens its mouth, blinks, and moves its head a little to react to human contact. It also makes different types of sounds depending on where and how you pet it.
Stroking it while resting on your knees or chest has a therapeutic effect: generates a calming and relaxing sensation.
Sensors can do things like measure the temperature and heart rate of its owner. If you detect an abnormality, you can notify a caregiver or family member.
An’An also learns the user’s routines, and reminds them when to eat or go to bed. It can be programmed to remember tasks at certain times, such as taking your pill or going to buy bread.
It seems to have impressed the experts at the CES show, because it has received a CES 2026 award for innovation. It is the first for a robotic pet since 1976.
