Binance would be increasingly used by whales, institutions and large investors.
The nature of capital flows in the bitcoin (BTC) market has undergone a significant transformation, moving away from the retail investor-dominated patterns that characterized the recent past and toward greater institutional participation.
A key indicator of this change is that bitcoin inflows to Binance, the world’s largest BTC and cryptocurrency exchange, skyrocketed.
According to the analysis of Maarten Regterschot (also known by his pseudonym Maartunn) published by the CryptoQuant platform, the monthly average of entries reached 21.7 BTC in December 2025, a radical increase from 0.86 BTC registered at the beginning of January 2024, as seen in the image.

This represents a 34-fold increase. “This metric reflects the average BTC per incoming transaction, signaling that large holders (known as ‘whales’) are now much more active on Binance,” explains Regterschot.
Why Bitcoin Inflow to Binance Soared
For the analyst, Binance is gradually positioning itself as a key location for the flows of these large-scale entitiestraditionally associated with retail operations.
The turning point in this trend coincides with the approval of spot bitcoin ETFs in the United States, which occurred in January 2024, as reported by NoticiasVE at the time. “Although it could be a coincidence, the timing suggests that larger institutions began using Binance along with greater institutional adoption,” adds the specialist.
Implications on market dynamics and liquidity risks
This indicator is valuable because it helps anticipate price movements. A significant increase in average deposit size signals that large transactions dominate flows, rather than the small deposits typical of retail investors.
In terms of impact on the price of bitcoin, massive inflows to exchanges can generate downward pressure if they are used for sales. In the future, volatility will depend on how these whales manage their positions after the inflow of bitcoin to Binance skyrocketed.
