Researchers have discovered certain vulnerabilities in the chips of Apple Serie A and M and that could enable cybercriminals to steal user data.

These data could include information from credit cards, access to email, browse data such as Chrome and Safari, and this would occur when running Google Maps, among others.

These failures They would affect Apple devices launched after 2021 due to these vulnerabilities discovered in series A and M chips of those of Cupertino.

If the cybercounts were exploited, they could have unauthorized remote access to confidential data of the user itself such as credit card information, location, emails, and everything while sailing through sites such as Calendar ICloud, Google MapsProton Mail and Gmail, and in the browsers Chrome y Safari.

According to researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Ruhr in Bochum The two vulnerabilities can be exploited through FLOP and SLAP side channel attacks To steal the history of Google Maps locations, see events stored in Calendar Icloud or see Gmail and Proton Mail emails.

Specifically these would be Apple devices that are vulnerable to one or both attacks:

  • All Macbook Air and Macbook Pro models from 2022 to the present.
  • All MAC Mini, IMAC, Mac Studio and Mac Pro models from 2023 to the present.
  • All iPad Pro, Air and Mini models from September 2021 to the present.
  • All iPhone models from September 2021 to the present.

Apple to reassure users has indicated that these failures are not an immediate risk, in any case it seems that they have informed the researchers who intend to launch a patch soon.
