Enagás and Calcinor They have announced the signing of a collaboration agreement that aims to Reduce CO2 emissions to approximately 900,000 tons per year. Calcinor will be in charge of developing CO2 capture technologies, while Enagás will study solutions for transport, liquefaction, storage and load to ships in their regasification terminals. These actions will be carried out from the plants of Calcinor, a company specialized in the development of industrial minerals, in order to permanently use or store the CO2 captured.
Enagás and Calcinor will also explore the possibility of Participate together in European financing programssuch as Innovation Funds and projects of common interest (PCI). This collaboration will allow them to access financial resources to boost their decarbonization projects.
In addition, both companies will carry out thorough analysis of technical, organizational, financial, contractual and legal viability of the CO2 value chain. Likewise, they will be in charge of the design of the infrastructure necessary to carry out these initiatives efficiently and sustainably.

He stressed that the collaboration between both companies will allow them to be leaders in innovation and competitiveness in the sustainable management of CO2.
For its part, Andoni MendiolaGeneral Director of Business and Commercial Development of Calcinor, stressed the importance of a global solution for decarbonization, which guarantees a responsible use or storage of CO2. He stressed that the strategic alliance with Enagás will allow them to advance in a coordinated way towards a more sustainable and prepared industry for future challenges, while maintaining their competitiveness.
The reduction of CO2 emissions and their transport are becoming increasingly relevant in Spain. In the results of the ‘Call for Interest’ non -binding process of Enagás, presented on the second day of the hydrogen in January 2024, a total of 37 companies interested in the capture of CO2 were identified, with the aim of reducing a total of 10.4 million tons per year. In addition, 53 companies showed interest in having infrastructure for the transport and storage of CO2, which reflects the growing commitment of the Spanish business sector with environmental sustainability and decarbonization.
