US bitcoin ETFs closed the week with net outflows of $681 million.
-
Ethereum spot ETFs also ended negative, with withdrawals of $68.6 million.
Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) spot ETFs closed the first full trading week of January 2026 with negative net flows, reversing capital inflows seen during the first days of the year, according to data from SoSoValue.
In the case of Bitcoin, exchange-traded funds recorded net outflows of approximately $681 million throughout the week. Ethereum ETFs, for their part, ended the period with withdrawals close to $68.6 million. In both cases, the exits ended up erasing a good part of the capital that had entered in the first sessions of January, marking a start to the year under pressure for these financial instruments.
Data shows that Bitcoin ETFs started the month with positive flows. On January 2 and 5, they recorded inflows of USD 471.1 million and USD 697.2 million, respectively. However, That impulse was not sustained. and gave way to four consecutive days of net outflows, which led to closing the week with an accumulated negative balance.

Ethereum also maintained negative balances
Similar behavior was observed in Ethereum-linked ETFs. Although these funds also raised capital in the first days of the yearsubsequent outputs exceeded initial inputsleaving a negative weekly balance close to USD 68.6 million.
The result suggests that short-term enthusiasm was not enough to maintain a stable capital flow throughout the week. The reversal coincides with a more cautious market toneas reported by NoticiasVE.
In this sense, some investors chose to reduce exposure to products considered higher risk or adjust positions based on the evolution of prices and the macroeconomic context.
Despite the volume of outflows recorded, Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs continue to concentrate tens of billions of dollars in assets under management. This indicates that institutional participation is still presentalthough with a more selective approach at the beginning of 2026.
