Grifols a continues with the strategic changes in the company to adjust to the demands of both investors and the market and has announced that its president, Thomas Glanzmann, has decided not to appear to re -election at the next General Shareholders Meeting of 2025 after concluding its two -year agreement as Executive President. It will happen to him Non-Executive President Anne-Catherine Berner, independent counselor of the Board of Directors of Grifols.
Glanzmann will also leave his counselor position after being a member for almost 20 years.
Glanzmann became a Minister of Grifols in 2006, the year in which the company first traded in the Spanish Stock Exchange. He was appointed Executive President in February 2023 and also assumed the position of CEO three months later.
In April 2024, he gave the position of CEO of Nacho Abia and in September he became non -executive president.
During his long term, first as a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of Grifols and later with executive responsibilities, Glanzmann contributed significantly to the growth and the transformation of Grifols into an international expansion period that would make it one of the world leaders in plasma and transfusion medicine.
His experience in the sector and firm leadership have left an important mark in Grifols and have marked an era in the organization. From the board of directors, he encouraged the creation of the company’s first strategy office and more recently, as executive president and CEO, led the recovery efforts after the pandemic together with the management team, closing a year of record income in 2023, while taking determining measures to reduce debt.
Glanzmann, together with the Grifols family, was also decisive in the hiring of ABIA as CEO and in the creation of a new management team that, with the support of the Council and the family, introduced important changes in the governance of the company.
In 2024, led the company’s response to the unprecedented attack of sellers in short and at the interest of Brookfield in acquiring the company. Despite the challenges, Grifols obtained excellent financial results in the first nine months of the year.

Anne-Catherine Berner, independent member of the Council since 2024currently presides over the Committee of appointments and remuneration of Grifols. Berner is also part of administration tips in Sweden, Germany and Switzerland and is president of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Children’s Hospital of Traumatology and the Nadija institution in Helsinki. She was Minister of Transportation of Finland for four years and also President and CEO of Vallila Interior Ab Oy, Finnish family business.
