It is possible that, at some point, you have needed to know Which operator does a certain mobile number belong to, or a landline number?. Even yours. I’ll show you a website of the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC)which is not only the official source, but is also updated almost in real time.

Why do you need to know which operator a phone number belongs to? There are several cases. For example, they are calling you insistently from a number that, you suspect, is advertising for an operator. By checking if it belongs to it, you will clear up doubts.

It is also useful if a family member has changed phone companies after receiving a call, and you suspect it could be a scam. Or you have just changed and want to know if, officially, the portability has already been done.

How to see the company of a mobile number

Maybe someone you know doesn’t remember which operator they subscribe to, and doesn’t have bills or online banking on hand. Or you simply want to know if a number exists, or is invented, or you have entered it wrong, without having to call. There are many examples.

For all these cases, you just have to enter this website of the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC). At the top are the menus. Enter the Numbering Statusand select whether you are looking for a landline or mobile number.

Next, at the bottom, enter your mobile number and check the “I’m not a robot” box, to prove that you are human. Finally, click on Look for to obtain the information:

As you can see in the screenshot, the operator and the date of consultation are shown. The only handicap is that it does not discriminate between subsidiaries. That is, if the number is from O2 or Movistar, it tells you that it is from Telefónica, but you cannot know which of the two.

On this same website you have other interesting information. on the menu Operatorsyou can check all the telephone companies in Spain. By selecting one, you obtain data such as its registered office, when it began operating, or the services it offers.
