Iberdrola expands its alliance with Burger King® supplying 109 MW of renewable energy

Iberdrola and Burger King® have signed a new energy purchase agreement (PPA) in the long term 34 MW photovoltaic, which is already located at 109 MW to meet the annual demand of more than 900 restaurants.

This new agreement will allow Iberdrola Provide a total of 1,900 gigawattios (GWh) of photovoltaic energy (FV) to the restoration chain (FV)thus contributing to accelerate the path of Burger King® in the use of renewable energies that allow it to increase its energy safety.

Both companies have been working to advance their services for years. In fact, iBerdrola and BP Pulse are managing 348 recharge places for electric vehicles in 173 brand restaurants in Spainalso providing the management and optimization services of its operation. In 2021 both companies signed a collaboration agreement for the installation of these recharge points.

PPA Market Leader

Iberdrola has extensive experience in PPA. The company manages energy purchase agreements in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, United States, Brazil, Mexico and Australiaof wind projects – terrestrial and marine – and photovoltaic. The first electricity of Europe by stock market and the second largest in the world offers innovative proposals of PPA for more than a decade.
In addition, for the second consecutive year, Iberdrola has been confirmed as leader in the European PPA market, according to the Pexapark Renewables Market Outlook 2025 report, with 1,251 MW hired in 2024, 38% more compared to 2023.

Iberdrola has announced agreements with large companies such as Amazon with which he has signed wind and photovoltaic ppas in Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom for the East Anglia Three Marine Park. Additionally, it has signed agreements with other global clients such as Bayer, Bp, Telefónica, Salzgitteras well as local clients.

The first European electricity stock extent has also reinforced alliances with large companies such as Microsoft, Meta, Salzgitter, Mercedes-Benz and Vodafone, confirming the PPA as a key tool for industrial electrification, since it guarantees renewable energy at a fixed and stable long-term price.
