INDRA acquires the Felguera Duro’s factory in Gijón to manufacture military vehicles

The president of Indra, Ángel Escribano, has announced that Indra plans to buy a «large factory» in Gijón, Asturias, which belonged to Duro Felguera, with the intention of transforming it into a center of Military vehicle production. This movement occurs after General Dynamics He will reject the sale of the Santa Barbara factory systems in Trubia, Oviedo.

In relation to the proposal presented to General Dynamics for the acquisition of the plant in Oviedo, Escribano has stated that Indra acted with the best disposition, but if the company is not interested in selling, it would not represent an obstacle to its future plans. Escribano has affirmed that, instead of the Oviedo plant, Indra will focus on the purchase of the Felguera Hardrry in Gijón.

According to Notary’s statements during his appearance in the Mixed National Security Commission in Congress, the intention of Indra is to hire the 120 to 150 people who currently work in the Felguera Durunate factory in Gijón and begin the production of military vehicles.
