Jon Hernández, one of the most often artificial intelligence in Spain, wanted to launch into the world, in a fairly direct way, a message in a Pódcast led by presenter Uri Sabat.
Consider that AI will change the world of work, and not necessarily for better in terms of opportunities for the youngest.
He explains that this new technology will do many jobs that people do today, especially basic or junior jobs, those first positions that young people access when they start looking for their place in the labor market.
«This is not going to be an economic crisis, this will be a social crisis and, depending on how we do it, a crisis of inequality, because in the transition many people are going to stay along the way,» he says. «Young people are those who access the most junior works. Those junior works are the first to do artificial intelligence. We will find a situation in which, in the coming years, young people will not have job opportunities,» he adds.
According to a Goldman Sachs report, He estimates that up to 300 million jobs worldwide could be affected by AI automation, especially in economies such as Europe and the United States.
Administrative and office works are very at risk, while manual jobs, such as construction or repairs, as Geoffrey Hinton also secunds, seem safer for now.
According to Indeed, The recent graduates face the most complicated labor scene since 2018, with a 33% decrease in vacancies compared to last year. And although part of the guilt is the economy, AI is accelerating everything.
This is something that precisely young people who leave universities have been feeling a few years. There are few who have even left the race in half, precisely because of that constant fear that AI, once they end up, either good enough to replace them.
The news that speaks of this substitution, the publication of thousands of books written by AI and even that pressure to adapt or die, has caused them to finally pull the towel.
«In two years, if you are not fluid in AI, you are out of the labor market»
To all this issue is added another great statement, stating that the ability to use AI will be in just two years one of the most important skills not to stay out of the labor market.
«I believe that, today, the luck you have if you do not know of artificial intelligence is that your boss knows less than you. If your boss knew what I know, I would have already replaced you,» he says in the podcast.
And all this does not say by chance. The talent for using artificial intelligence in a correct and useful way is vital in today’s work and even more in tomorrow. Companies already value someone more who understand how to use these tools to save time, make calculations, create content or analyze fast data, who has no idea what this is going.
But be careful because the thing is not just learning to use X o y program. Jon insists that it is a total change in the way of working, which will be as normal as using email or Excel.
However, there are many workers and even companies that are still trapped in the past. Jon comments that he has encountered businesses that continue to use paper alparanes and almost even play Excel, which is «very sad» for him.
The change towards this mass adoption of AI is a matter of culture, education and, of course, resources. It is not enough that technology exists, you have to want to use it and know how to do it, and in that people and bosses are not always up to it.
The good news is that this use is growing, but it is slower than the expert expected. That gives a certain margin to catch up, but only a little, because the tsunami comes with everything and you better get up in the wave as soon as possible. If in two years you do not use in your day to day, whatever manner, unless you do something without a computer, very manual, you will have difficult to find work, without half inks.
