Meliá Hotels International elevates its benefit to 88.5 million euros, 72.4% more

Meliá Hotels International has announced to market closure its results corresponding to the first six months of the year, in which it has registered an RNet ESULTADO OF 88.5 million euros, which represents an increase of 72.4% over the same period of the previous year.

For its part, the Ebitda has reached 248 million euros, with a growth of 3.2%and there has been an improvement of the Ebitda margin on income in the second quarter, which is 28% excluding surplus value. The solid operational evolution allowed the company to generate more than 70 million in operating box during the second quarter.

Los consolidated revenues of the semester amounted to 991.1 million euros, 3.2% more that in the first semester of 2024, despite the negative impact of the dollar exchange rate against the euro, which has affected the results in America. They highlighted the solid results in Spain, promoted by the repositioning of hotels and new openings, such as the Paradisus Gran Canaria or the House of Arts in Madrid.

Likewise, the hotel managed an improvement of 40.2% in bank financing expenses, with a saving of more than 14 million euros, thanks to the reduction of debt, more favorable conditions and a moderation of interest rates.

He RevPAR (Average income per room available) grew 4.7% in the semester and 5.8% in the second quarter, mainly driven by rates improvements.

In the words of Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, president and CEO of Meliá Hotels International «Meliá’s results in the first semester confirm the trend of sustained and normalized growth of the demand, which is reflected in an increase in the average income by available room (Revpar) of an average digit until June».

Meliá has opened 11 hotels to date and signed 20 new establishments, all under management or franchise formulas, reaffirming its commitment to a “Asset-light” model. They highlight the openings of Paradisus Fuerteventura and me Lisbon, which mark the beginning of a summer season that promises to be the fourth consecutive in interannual improvement.

Plans and perspectives

Meliá has presented its new “Travel for Good” roadmap, focused on environmental sustainability, social commitment and good governance. Among the achievements:

  • 87.2% of the portfolio certified in sustainability ESG «ECOSTARS».
  • CO2perate energy monitoring system in 54 hotels.
  • 4,000 events held as “Carbon neutral”.

The company has also reinforced its sustainability governance and updated its risk map ESEG.

Looking ahead to the third quarter, Meliá anticipates another positive summer season, with reserves in 5% higher than the previous year and without signs of slowing. The forecast of a revar growth of an average digit is maintained for the whole year, driven by both rates and occupation.

Until the end of 2025, the company foresees 15 additional openings, in destinations such as Spain, Albania, Italy, Malta, Argentina, Cuba and Maldives. The group maintains its estimate to close between 30 and 40 hotels this year, 33% of them in the luxury segment.
