Artificial intelligence has put everything upside down, both for better and for worse. We could dedicate thousands of text lines to its virtues, but also to the problems it poses and is one that always appears in all conclusions about this technology: unemployment.

We are already seeing how some of the most powerful technological firms (and, therefore, with sufficient capital to keep the salary of thousands of employees) have thrown a good part of their workforce. This is the case of Amazon, IBM and Klarna, among others.

No one is saved from the screen, since the AI not only threatens the jobs that require lower training, as well as administrative ones (known as white collar), but they are also putting the owners of those businesses against the ropes.

However, experts suggest that artificial intelligence will also need to have formed equipment that is responsible for training and maintaining it. This means that, a priori, this technology will also be able to create employment. This statement, how could it be otherwise, has generated many criticisms.

One of them comes from Mo Gawdat, former commercial director of Google X, the innovation laboratory of the Mountain View company. This has recently expressed it in the Pódcast known as CEO diarywhere he has insisted that the idea that AI will create jobs is «totally absurd.»

To defend his idea, he has put his own example as an example startup of artificial intelligence, known as Emma.love, for whose development the option of hiring human people was ruled out. In that way, for a project in which 350 developers initially would be needed, there were finally two people in charge of it, with AI, clear.

No one can secure their position

Gawdat, who has been working in the technological sector for more than three decades, as he remembers CNBCsupports the premise that no one can be completely convinced that their work will not cease to exist.

Not even those who require some creativity and command, such as video editors, Pódcast creators or executives. With this, by the way, Bill Gates could well agree, who has dared to say that even doctors and teachers will be replaced in the coming years.

All this comes from the hand of a technology that is getting closer and closer, the general AI, which, according to the former director of Google, «there will be better than humans in everything, even in being executive director.» «There will come a time when most incompetent executive directors will be replaced,» he said.

The 40 cursed professions

In view of all this, the reality is clear: AI will boost many employment cuts, sooner or later and both in different areas of companies and in different sectors, which go far beyond technological.

This is indicated by one of the latest reports published by Microsoft, which has made a list in which it indicates in a very specific way which are the 40 professions that AI is about to destroy, in addition to those that can possibly be kept afloat.

The list classifies occupations according to an applicability index of artificial intelligence, which measures how much AI capacities with human tasks can overlap and reveals that among the 40 works most threatened by this technology are that of interpreters and translators, authors and writers, radio broadcasters and presenters or reporters.

This negative list is thickened with many other professionals: political scientists, hotel janitors, teleopeors, CNC tool programmers, customer service agents, mathematics, style correctors, events receptionists, financial advisors and data scientific advisors.

On the opposite side, that of the 40 works less affected by AIthere are hospital wardens and auxiliaries, hotels and homes cleaning workers, motor boat drivers, ophthalmological technicians, masseuses, naval engineers and masons, among others.
