In the emails attached to the lawsuit, Nvidia assures that it is «exploring include Anna’s Archive in the pre-training data for our LLMs (language models)», although he acknowledges that the company would still be «deciding internally whether to accept the risk» of including it.
The administrators of the pirate database themselves would have told Nvidia that the content had been acquired through illegal means, but the American company would have also reached an agreement just a week later to access the millions of works on the pirate platform, with up to 500 TB of data.
Nvidia was already denounced in 2024
The current complaint is an extension of the one that a group of authors already filed against Nvidia back in 2024, which is still in the process of being judged.
The plaintiffs They also accused Nvidia of using the Book3 databasewhich included thousands of copyrighted books taken from the pirate library Library.
The company could also have allowed its business partners to download its database for training AI models and that this would include the works present in Book3.
