What would you say that it is the competitive advantage within the Gigas group in the cybersecurity market?
The Gigas group is making a commitment to the cybersecurity area, which began at the end of last year. The company’s strategy is very oriented to offer advanced solutions in the field of protection and is especially aimed at SMEs. In addition, in the group we have monitoring, analysis and protection capabilities that will be reflected in the portfolio over the coming months.
In this scenario where cybersecurity demand is growing. How is this trend capitalizing and what growth levers do you see in this business?
Cybersecurity is a fundamental piece in any technological business to avoid information or other incidents, since it directly affects the technological area.
In our case, by offering cloud solutions, we are aware that security incidents such as a ransomware attack or an information leakage of their data will directly impact customers.
For this reason, from Gigas we consider priority to develop and integrate products and services that help our customers mitigate these risks. Although in cybersecurity a 100%security can never be guaranteed, our approach is aimed at improving resilience against cyber attacks and strengthening incident response capacity.
Solutions such as Gâ € Backup for Servers and Microsoftâ € ¯365 are some of the proposals that the company has. What technological advantages contributes to its competitors that use another type of technology or platforms?
The gigas approach is based on offering accessible, easy and high efficacy and protection technological solutions. Our priority is to be close to the client, facilitating the use of tools without compromising their level of protection.
In addition, the company is promoting a continuous improvement in security certifications, both in the Spanish scheme and in the international markets where we operate. One of our main technological differentiators is the location of data in Spanish territory, which provides a key advantage in terms of sovereignty of data, regulatory compliance and customer confidence.
In a context of increasingly sophisticated threats, what are the biggest challenges faced by Gigas in the coming months?
Gigas identifies two great challenges. The first is internal and shared with most national and international organizations: the awareness of both the user and the final customer.
The second challenge is related to early detection and response to increasingly complex attacks, such as phishing, which is still one of the most harmful threats. These attacks, which may include the discharge of malicious documents with ransomware, put the integrity of the data and the continuity of the business at risk.
In this scenario, Gigas is reinforcing its strategy with backup solutions, monitoring services and, especially, with the progressive integration of artificial intelligence.
In investment terms, what are the investment lines in which gigabytes are working to strengthen the company’s cybersecurity unit?
Since I joined Gigas at the end of last year, the company has started a growth process within the cybersecurity area. Gigas is investing in the expansion of the specialized team, betting on profiles with experience in advanced services and with a clear approach in the cybersecurity market. In my case, I come from the world of services and the pure cybersecurity market, with more than 20 years of experience in the sector.
The company is investing and working to adapt to a very demanding regulatory environment, which directly affects us by the type of services we offer: from our cloud infrastructure to the telecommunications part that we operate in Portugal. This implies complying with regulations such as Dora, NIS2, the National Security Scheme in Spain and ISO 27001.
The regulations and the regulatory framework is leading us to develop a more focused culture on customer safety and protection. To do this, an investment plan aligned with a Cybersecurity Master Plan is being applied, with the objective that at the end of this year we are fully aligned with the standards and demands of the market and the sector.
What message would you give today to an investor who doubts between betting on a pure € ‘cybersecurity play or an integrated cloud service provider with security layer included as you?
I think that a key factor to consider is the human capital and talent that is being incorporated into gigas. Many of us come precisely from the surrounding environment of cybersecurity, so we contribute that specialized knowledge to the context of a broader and more integrated supplier.
In addition, we have a differential advantage: we directly manage technological infrastructure and customer data, which allows us to apply security measures much more completely and deeply. While a Pure-Player provides protection services from the outside, we have an integral vision of the client’s environment and we can offer 360 security, aligned with all its technological operation.
In that sense, rather than competing, we are building a proposal that combines the best of both worlds: the experience and abilities of a cybersecurity specialist, together with direct control over the Cloud environment, which allows us to give a more robust, efficient and aligned response with the real needs of companies.
