There are rumors that Qualcomm is preparing its assault on the tower desktop PC market. And here we have an intermediate step: the first mini PC with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor, manufactured by Geekom.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor already competes with processors from Intel and AMD in the ultra-thin laptop market.

The Chinese company Geekom is the first that dares to mount the processor in a mini PC. It’s going to be quite difficult here, because the CPUs are more powerful than in laptops. Although it all depends on the price range.

The first mini PC with Snapdragon

Unfortunately, the only information we have is that photo leaked on the Chinese social network Weibo, since the mini PC with Snapdragon has not yet been presented.

We can see that it will have a pair of USB 3.0 ports, an audio jack, and the power button. Typical for this type of device.

Geekom calls it QS Series, indicating that plans to launch several mini PCs with different Snapdragon. Another is rumored to have the Snapdragon X Plus processor.

As we see in the previous card, for now laptops with Qualcomm processors are disappointing in sales. In the third quarter of 2024, the first full one on the market, they only sold 720,000 units worldwide.

This represents less than 0.8% of all Windows laptops sold in this third quarter of the year. Or, put another way, Only 1 in every 125 laptops sold have a Snapdragon. Adding the launch units, they barely reach 1.5% of the market.

If you now jump into the mini PC market, it won’t be any easier. There is a lot of competition here and especially AMD has a lot of specialized CPUs.

There are also doubts about the effectiveness of this mini PC. Qualcomm itself canceled a mini PC it was developing for developers a few weeks ago because it did not offer the expected performance.

We won’t have to wait long to find out the specifications of the first mini PC with Qualcomm Snapdragonmanufactured by Geekom. Will the ARM architecture manage to gain a foothold in this market?
