In an increasingly globalized world, it is not strange that scams also travel quickly from some countries to another. Especially when it comes to a hoax that aims to empty the current accounts of citizens. It is not the first time something like that happens, in fact, and there have already been cases of scams born in France, for example, that have ended up arriving in Spain.

In this case It is a fraud that has the main objective of the elderlybut that can certainly end up crossing on the path of almost anyone. Therefore, although so far it is taking place mainly in northern countries such as Denmark, international authorities have already decided to give alarm everywhere.

This is the bank scam that comes from Europe

One of the most peculiar things of this scam is that it could be considered as a kind of hybrid among the most common technological deceptions (phishing and similar cases) and the aim of a lifetime. Those that were carried out face to face and depended largely on the manipulation capacity of the scammer. Only adapted to the times.

The modus operandi of the scammers begins with A phone call in which an alleged bank worker contacts the victim, alerting her on suspicious transactions In your bank account. To “solve” the problem, the false employee informs you that it is necessary to change your bank card and provide your pin code for a system update.

Once the victim agrees, the scammers send an accomplice, who appears in the house of the affected person as a kind of bank messenger or something like that. This individual collects the card, the PIN and, in some cases, even convince the victim to deliver cash and other value objects. It is not convenient to underestimate these criminals.

So far, at least eight cases of this type of fraud have been recorded in the localities of Faxe, Korsør, Dianalund and Sorø. Danish police have urged citizens to be alert and have issued a series of recommendations to prevent such deceptions. Everything may seem very distant, but it would not be surprising that it also also arrived in our country, seeing the background.

The best way to avoid the problem

Whether in order to avoid this scam in the future or other similar ones that, unfortunately, already exist throughout the world, the most important thing is to have a clear thing: a bank will never ask for sensitive information by phone. Nor by email or messages of any kind. If this happens, it is because someone is trying to commit a misdeed.

In case of having the slightest doubt, I immediately hang the phone and be yourself who gets in touch with your bank for the official channels that it has. So you will not run any risk.
