Today’s biggest increases are for Acciona, which is in the news today for two very different reasons. On the one hand, and as published by Reuters, the company has made internal changes in the midst of the investigation of the ‘Cerdán’ case and a Special Commission has been created to reinforce regulatory compliance and the Construction division in Spain has been reorganized. The Commission has three independent external experts and three independent directors of Acciona. However, the company has denied having obtained improper advantages in the procedures investigated by the Supreme Court.

On the other hand, Acciona, in a consortium with the local company BRK, has been awarded the contract for the concession of treated water and sewage distribution services in 151 municipalities of Pernambuco, northeast of Brazil. The concession will have a duration of 35 years and will mobilize an investment of 2,380 million euros to expand and modernize sanitation and supply infrastructure.

Mapfre’s increases come hours after it was learned that the Ibex 35 insurer Mapfre has reorganized the structure of its manager, Mapfre AM, by creating new departments and redefining responsibilities. Among the main novelties, the creation of the Strategic Projects and Innovation Development Area stands out, which will integrate initiatives already underway, such as the incorporation of the Aladdin technological platform and the promotion of the Discretionary Portfolio Management business. Mapfre AM plans to exceed 700 million euros in net subscriptions in 2026, which is 55% more than what was captured in this year, 450 million euros.

Another of the main protagonists of the day is BBVA, which has informed the CNMV early in the morning that it will begin on December 22 an extraordinary share buyback program for a maximum amount of 3,960 million euros, after obtaining all the relevant authorizations. It is the largest buyback carried out by the entity to date.

Also in the financial sector, DZ Bank has lowered Banco Santander’s recommendation from ‘buy’ to ‘hold’, but has raised its fair value estimate from 9.60 to 10.00 euros per share. Analyst Philipp Häßler forecasts average annual earnings per share growth of 9% by 2028, driven by share buybacks.

In other news of the day, Fluidra has signed an agreement to purchase 100% of Variopool Holding BV, a company based in the Netherlands that specializes in the design, production and installation of mobile floors and walls for swimming pools, as well as water parks and underwater windows. Variopool has a staff of approximately 65 employees and is expected to generate sales of 25 million euros and EBITDA of around 3.5 million euros in 2025, according to what Fluidra has told the CNMV.

ACS has made the decision to activate the execution of a dividend that will be around 0.45 euros per share, which will be delivered in ‘scrip dividend’ format and is expected to take place next February 2026.
