  • January: The year started strong. In January, a cyber attack on Orange interrupted its services, affecting thousands of users throughout Spain. This type of attack mainly seeks to interrupt the service, causing inconvenience to users and economic losses to the company.
  • March: FIATC Seguros confirmed a data leak of its clients. Sensitive personal data and information, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and even health data, were revealed, leading to serious consequences for those affected, such as identity theft or scams.
  • April: Guadalajara public transportation suffered a cyber attack that interrupted the operation of its management system. The impact translated into delays and operational problems that directly impacted citizens.
  • Mayo: In one of the most serious cases of the year, data from 850,000 Iberdrola customers was leaked in May. Although the company assured that no financial information was compromised, the magnitude of the incident set off alarms, since DNI numbers were leaked.
  • June: During the month of June, two hackers carried out a coordinated cyberattack against several Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV) stations, causing interruptions in services and generating logistical chaos in the middle of the summer season.
  • Julio: TotalEnergies joined the list of companies affected by cyberattacks, confirming an incident that compromised the data of almost 211,000 customers in Spain. The compromised data included personal information, generating a strong debate about security in the energy sector.
  • August: Opponents who aspired to join RTVE were affected by data theft. This incident called into question the security measures of one of the most emblematic public organizations in the country.
  • September: The energy sector was once again the target of hackers in September, when unauthorized access to Repsol’s customer database was detected. Although the intrusion was limited, the potential risk raised concerns.
  • October: Aerotecnic suffered a data breach that exposed 800 GB of corporate and employee information. This attack highlighted the vulnerability of the aviation sector to cyber threats.
  • November: In the middle of the Black Friday campaign, Infortisa was the victim of ransomware that paralyzed its operations. The hackers encrypted the company’s data and then demanded a ransom for the decryption key, but days later they restored their systems.
  • December: To close the year, the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) suffered a major cyberattack with the leak of more than 2 billion records linked to mobile phone users. This incident is one of the most serious of the year due to the amount of data compromised and the sensitivity of the information.
