Google Chrome has been the most used browser worldwide for several years, with a market share that is usually around 70%. Although its popularity is indisputable, there are others that can be a great solution if you need more tools related to performance or privacy.

I already commented on the advantages of using an open source browser such as FreeWolf, for users who prefer a more private configuration by default, but there are other very interesting proprietary software options.

The last one I have tried, Vivaldi, is of European origin and was released to the public in 2015 thanks to Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, who was CEO and opera co -founderanother of the most important browsers today.

However, the co -founder bothered that the company closed a community known as My Opera, the germ of that browser; Thus, he decided to start on his account with another community, baptized as Vivaldi Community.

After that, the browser saw the light, in honor of the Italian composer so recognized worldwide, for the ease of remembering this name.

Vivaldi has a vision very similar to other browsers aimed at increasing the privacy and safety of users, with the great advantage that also includes a free VPN and a very minimalist interface.

Having a free VPN like Proton’s is a privilege of Vivaldi

The first thing to highlight from Vivaldi is that the browser is available in different operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, Macos, Android and iOS, with which You can access this both from the browser and from the mobilewith the possibility of synchronizing everything.

The version you see here is Vivaldi 7.3 for Windows 11, the last available to the date of this article, although it is usually updated quite frequently, also to incorporate different tools.

To start, you will have to choose your privacy settings that, as you can see here, it has several layers according to the use you are going to make the browser; I have opted for the one offered by the most private adjustment, which blocks monitoring on the web pages.

However, this is not very different from what you will find in browsers focused on privacy and cybersecurity, although I loved the option to have the integrated proton VPN totally.

Although I use a VPN at the system level, I think it is a very good option if you do not use any service of this type, but you want your navigation to be more private without having to make any additional investment.

As is logical to be a division that began in Opera, the free VPN is practically an obligation, being one of the few browsers that allow us to use a built -in to navigate. But there are still more tools that have caught my attention.

It will be very familiar if you have used it once

Currently, browsers do not differ considerably in their interface, although Vivaldi has some own issues, very similar to what can be seen in Opera. In this way, the main direct access menu is located on the left side.

From this you can access important tools to take notes, take a look at the history, translate into numerous languages, see downloads or enter the direct accesses you have kept.

Unlike others, Vivaldi reserves the lower part for widgets such as screenshots, configuration or zoom increase on the page, which is usually anchored to the navigation bar in others such as those based on Firefox, for example.

However, the result of its commitment to «human intelligence», Here you will not find any assistant promoted by artificial intelligenceand that is something to thank. Given the explosion of this type of agents, finding something that sails as a countercurrent is a breath of fresh air.

«We do not believe in the idea that everything has to be driven by AI, especially what uses your data without permission or plagiar and pollutes the web with erroneous information,» says Vivaldi on its website. «The big linguistic models can be superficially impressive, but they carry huge costs, consume energy and water, while eroding privacy and precision.»

In addition to this unusual approach in these times, Vivaldi has no external investors, so the benefit remains directly in its employees, who are the owners of the company.
