The war in Ukraine has only increased the confidence that the armies deposit in the drones as the first line of battle.
In recent years, there have been incredible advances in this type of technology, such as those promoted by artificial intelligence – with the ability to set objectives autonomously – or the so -called swarms, which act together.
Although Russia has advanced impressive in the development of military drones, Ukraine has important allies that supply tens of thousands of these types of devices, with the aim of ensuring their defenses.
One of the last examples is the help offered by Portugal, thanks to the European DRON AR3, which is estimated to contribute to destroy Russian military assets worth 2.5 billion dollarsaccording to the specialized media Energy Reporters.
Such is the popularity of this European drone that Taiwan has recently sealed an agreement with the Portuguese company Tekever for possible manufacturing at the local level in the country, given a possible invasion by China.
Among the main features highlighted by the official website of the AR3 drone, it should be noted that it integrates sensors and infrared, retransmission systems, resistance to adverse weather conditions and It allows to reach cruise speeds between 75 and 90 kilometers per hour.
Specifically, in the Ukraine War this drone has served to get into enemy territory, unnoticed and, from recognition, to be able to set the objectives to bombard them.
«Our mission consists in locating high -value enemy objectives,» Kostiantyn, commander of the Ukraine Army in the framework of the war against Russian troops, explains in a video. «This drone has allowed us to stay in the air for long periods, in addition to directing operations from the sky the whole day without having to land.»
In his case, Tekever, the company based in Portugal, offers support dedicated to repairs of this drone in Ukraine, in addition to storage of spare parts and logistics; To this is also added intention to create a research and development center in the country.
Additionally, before the latest invasions of the airspace of Poland, Estonia and Denmark by Russia, the European Union has confirmed the need to create a «drone wall» to be able to identify threats at the borders.
Within this arms escalation, the war in Ukraine has already resulted in negative consequences on the mental health of the soldiers under the constant threat of the drones, the baptized as dronephobia.
