Armed conflicts have changed forever since the beginning of the Ukrainian war. Armies have been filled with autonomous robots and drones that shoot or shoot down their targets thanks to artificial intelligence.
Battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine receive more than 1,500 autonomous anti-Shahed dronesas confirmed by Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defense. These devices can intercept one of the most lethal systems.
Ukraine is reinforced from the air
kyiv’s army has had difficulty defending itself since the start of the Ukrainian war. Russia attacks from the air with enormous precision with coordinated attacks with swarm drones, using more than 300 units in a single night.
Ukraine is far from matching Russia’s drone production, nor does it receive enough supplies from its allied countries to counterattack. The Ukrainian army is committed to creating an iron defense against air attacks.
The Minister of Defense has confirmed that December and January hold the record for the delivery of interceptor drones to military units. The Ukrainian army is committed to taking down its enemies, they cannot compete in numbers against Russia.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have significantly increased their defensive capabilities in a war that remains stagnant for months. The battalions aim to reinforce their front-line positions and protect rear regions heading into the spring.
Drones as the best defense weapon
Drones that intercept their targets have become a fundamental pillar of Ukraine’s air defense. The army opts for the most economical system to protect its positions.
Ukraine cannot use high-value surface-to-air missiles to defend against airstrikes of swarms of Russian or armored kamikaze drones, they must save them for special operations. This strategy also prevents traditional air defense systems from being overloaded.
Shmyhal has confirmed that Ukrainian units have independently received more than 7,000 interceptor drones through the DOT-Chain Defense weapons market. This allows the first line to be reinforced with more urgent deliveries.
Ukraine has even created specialized units to shoot down Shahed-type drones like the Geran-3, a device so cheap and lethal that Russia organizes coordinated attacks daily. The Ukrainian defense is creating interception zones away from cities to reduce the threat in urban areas.
