Xiaomi has just issued a security notice where they have announced that they will withdraw from the stores a great set of Power Banks, that were manufactured between August and September last yeardue to a failure in the battery cells that could end up deriving in possible overheating and, thereby enhancing the risk of fire.
Specifically, they have announced the withdrawal of 146,891 units of their Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20000 mAh Integrated Cable (Model PB2030MI), due to this failure in the battery cells.
With this, these specific models have been removed from stores, both physical and online, and those users who have these devices are called to return them and receive a refund.
«In response to problems identified with certain supplier materials, a small lot of the PB2030mi model manufactured between August and September 2024 could experience failures under certain use scenarios, which could cause battery overheating and represent a fire risk,» says Xiaomi in an official statement.
«Although the number of incidents reported is reduced, to guarantee high standards of product quality, Xiaomi has decided to start a withdrawal of the affected units,» they clarify.
As you have been able to read, the model involved is the Xiaomi PB2030MIwith a capacity of 20,000 mAh, fast charge of 33 W and USB cable of type C integratedwith a price that is about 30 euros.
As we said, the failure is due to a defect in a concrete battery cell, identified as 126280 version 2.0, that could become insecure under extreme conditions of use.
Xiaomi has enabled a portal to introduce the device serial number and confirm if it is within the affected lot.
If your device is affected, you must immediately return it to the official Xiaomi or the store where you originally acquired it to receive a refund.
It is something similar to what happened to the Anker company in recent months, which called the return of more than 1 million units of different models.
It should not be risking in this regard, because an excessive use of this type of devices with manufacturing errors can be catastrophic.
