For Sam Altman, everything that has to do with artificial intelligence seems wonderful. Now, and looking to the future. However, AI continues to worry experts. Not only for those who talk about catastrophes typical of a science fiction movie, but rather for more practical issues. In this case, focused above all on privacy.

In reality, many businesses are investing a lot of money in adapting to artificial intelligence. Or they even require their workers to learn how to use tools like ChatGPT, the popular OpenAI chatbot. But AI can also be a double-edged sword, experts say. A study has put many companies around the world on alert.

AI, a problem for company privacy

The relationship between artificial intelligence and the world of work is not always simple, whatever Sam Altman says. For the founder of OpenAI, work will become less and less, and everyone will be able to do what they want: painting, reading, writing or any creative activity. That is at least the theory, because practice gives the sensation of going in a very different direction.

At least that is what the security company LayerX indicates, which has carried out a new study shared by The Hacker News. According to him, artificial intelligence and chatbots like ChatGPT They have already become the first cause of data leaks. A problem that already seems to be affecting numerous companies around the world. And it is not a trivial topic.

If privacy is important for anyone, in many cases it is even more so for most professional companies. And why does this happen? Because many employees are using ChatGPT or whatever AI to perform different tasks. Or what is the same: they are filtering sensitive information to artificial intelligence without hardly realizing it.

A fact that experts consider alarming to say the least: 77% of workers already use the typical «copy and paste» command to transfer data from internal documents to AI tools. And what draws even more attention: 82% of this activity occurs from personal accounts outside of corporate control.

AI, a rear window for anyone

The main problem that specialists talk about is that AI, they say, is not yet considered the threat it really can be. Many companies strive to prevent breaches that occur through emails, hacks, or file storage. With AI, they don’t even know it’s actually happening.

The experts’ recommendation is clear: they advise using personal AI accounts at work as little as possible, and using some that are created by the company itself. Additionally, surveillance should be focused on the highest risk areas, such as AI, chat, and cloud storage. After all, these are the points where the most significant data loss occurs.
