The projected annual volume exceeds twenty times the public liquidity visible on explorers.

Data from Amboss, River and LQWD supports the growth trend in business traffic.
Transaction volume on the Bitcoin Lightning Network is reaching institutional dimensions. Jesse Shrader, CEO of analytics platform Amboss, projects that the network currently processes more than $10 billion a year. This figure contrasts with public metrics, which They usually show only the static liquidity of the channels.
Shrader maintains that the Most economic activity occurs in private channels. These connections do not appear in conventional network browsers for security and business efficiency reasons. According to the manager, companies that build scalable infrastructure today have an unprecedented market opportunity before them.
The executive highlights that the Lightning network is no longer an environment for enthusiasts. Volume growth suggests that money circulates at a much greater speed to which the balances of the nodes indicate.

When asked about the origin of these estimates, the CEO of Amboss He clarified that his projections are not simple assumptions. Shrader explained that his data results from an extrapolation based on three informative pillars:
- Boths’ own data combined with shared metrics privately by node operators.
- Public sources and sector reports from companies such as LQWD Technologies, River and Amboss itself.
- Recent adoption announcements and use of processors such as Speed, LN Markets and various corporate wallets.
Current state of liquidity in the network
Despite high volume projections, the network’s public liquidity maintains a consolidated structure. As of January 2026, public capacity metrics serve as the basis for these operations, although they do not reflect the total flow of money in motion.

- Public capacity: The network has approximately 5.600 BTC in visible channels.
- Valuation: This public liquidity is equivalent to about USD 510 million at current market prices.
- Infrastructure: the ecosystem records about 14,940 nodes y 48.600 canales active public.
- Efficiency: The current trend shows channels with greater individual capacity, facilitating larger volume transactions.
The difference between USD 500 million of public liquidity and USD 10 billion of annual volume demonstrates the high turnover of capital in the network. Shrader insists that the anonymity of Lightning transactions masks a growing economy.
