Blackrock has made significant adjustments in its position as a reference shareholder in several IBEX 35 companies, after completing the acquisition of HPS Investment Partners. This movement has had a remarkable impact on the shareholding of various companies, with a particular approach to financial entities and other key sectors of the Spanish market.
Increase in Blackrock’s participation in BBVA and Banco Sabadell
In the case of BBVA, Blackrock has notified the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) an increase in its participation, which has gone from 6.8% prior to 7.158%, thus marking its highest level to date.
On the other hand, in Banco Sabadell, the manager has experienced more moderate growth, raising her participation of 6,624% to 6,739%, in the context of the public acquisition offer (OPA) led by Carlos Torres on the entity chaired by Josep Oliu.
Impact on other financial entities
The presence of Blackrock has also varied in other financial entities of Ibex 35. In Caixabank, the manager has increased its participation to 4.68%, which represents an increase of six tenths. On the other hand, in Banco Santander and Bankinter, Blackrock has reduced its presence, standing at 6,861% and 6,032%, respectively.
Diversification in other sectors
The acquisition of HPS Investment Partners has not only affected the banking sector, but has also had repercussions in other representative industries of the Spanish market.
In the energy sector, Blackrock has adjusted its positions in companies such as Iberdrola, Enagas, Redeia (Ree) and the Repsol oil company. In the case of Iberdrola, the manager has decreased its participation from 6,619% to 6,254%, breaking with an upward trend.
On the other hand, in Enagás it has reached 5,979%of the capital, in Red Electrica it has risen to 5.225%, and in Repsol it has dropped to 7.176%.
Expansion in other key sectors
In addition to energy, Blackrock has strengthened its position in telecommunications companies, such asTelefónica, where its participation has increased to 4,955%. In the health sector, the manager has increased its presence in Grifols to 4,274%, and in fluid to 4,304%.
In the field of infrastructure, Blackrock has adjusted its participation in Actiona reducing it from 3,719% to 3,525%, although it remains the second largest shareholder after the entrechor family.
Movements in the real estate and tourist sector
Within the real estate sector, Blackrock has decreased its presence in Merlin Properties to 4,632%, maintaining a share shared with the Santander Bank and Manuel Lao. In colonial, the manager has reduced its participation to 3,465%.
As for tourism companies, Blackrock has adjusted its position in the IAG (Iberia) airline holding decreases its participation to 3.65%, although it remains the third largest shareholder after Qatar Airways and Capital Research and Management Company.
