Indra and Rheinmetall are joined in strategic agreement for military vehicle projects in Spain

Indra has announced the signing of an important strategic cooperation agreement with Rheinmetall Landsysteme, the armored vehicle subsidiary of the German company Rheinmetall. This agreement focuses on the development of military vehicle projects for the Spanish Armed Forces, consolidating the relationship between both companies in other areas.

Expansion of the alliance between Indra and Rheinmetall

Rheinmetall’s experience

  • World supplier: Rheinmetall is recognized as one of the world’s leading suppliers of armored vehicles of chains and wheels.

  • Outstanding designs: The company is the original designer of vehicles such as the armored Keiler NG and has technological participation in the Leopard 2A4 tank.

Implications for Indra

  • Creation of Indra Land Vehicles: As part of its strategic plan, Indra has established a subsidiary, Indra Land Vehicles, to expand in the armored vehicle sector.

Current Indra projects

  • Participation in the Leopard 2E: Indra manufactures the Leopard 2E combat system in Spain under a license from Rheinmetall Electronics.

  • Sistema Lince BMS: Indra supplies the Lince BMS system, operational in the Leopard 2 in Spain.

  • Development of the ‘Maestre’ mission system: Indra is the designer of the ‘Maestre’ mission system, used in the 8×8 dragon armor for the Spanish army.

INDRA INVESTMENTS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Investments in capacities: Indra is making a significant investment in capacities for the integration, production or transformation of armored vehicles in Spain.

  • Acquisition objectives: After the acquisition of the Gdels Trubia plant is not completed, Indra aims to acquire the heavy boiler plant of Hard Felguera in Gijón for the manufacture of armored ones.
