Within the framework of MWC 2026, Computer Today was able to interview Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Gaming at Qualcomm Technologiesto learn more about the company’s plans to be at the forefront of the change towards the era of artificial intelligence.

And to achieve this, he comments that they have focused on 3 pillars that, according to him, are the ones that really matter: performance, a battery that really lasts (several days) and, of course, artificial intelligence.

What Qualcomm seeks with its chips is that your computer stops being a simple box, no matter how powerful it may be, and begins to act as an assistant. According to Kondap, the goal is not just speed, but to change the experience: «We believe that the consumer and the user experience are going to fundamentally change.»

The heart of this new generation of devices is the NPU or Neural Processing Unit, a specialized chip so that AI can run on your PC. Thanks to this, we enter the era of ‘agent AI’. «In this new world of agentic AI, we believe that agents will help consumers simplify their tasks and make their lives more productive,» says Kondap.

It’s not about you adapting to the PC, but about the device understanding you in absolutely everything. «Today, when you think about XR glasses, consumers have already started to adopt a different way of communicating, which is using their voice.»

That same naturalness affirms that it is what will reach our computers. «You don’t have to type on the device; with all these AI agents, you can talk to them».

As a simple use case, the interviewee gives the following example: «If you have a meeting in Barcelona, ​​the PC will know where it is, how much traffic there is, it will notify you and ask you if you want to notify the other person that you are late. With AI agents you will not have to type, you can simply talk to them.» Basically, it will do the extra work for you.

Kedar Kondap is clear that The future is no longer so future and that this reality depends on months or a few years. He also speaks of a total symbiosis: «It will not just be a laptop, but how it interacts with your mobile phone or your car.».

For Kondap, the key is trust: «The more people know what they can do with these AI workflows, the more comfortable they will feel using it responsibly.»
