Nice try, Apple, but I miss playing: this 300 euro PC will be my next purchase

Two years ago I bought a Mac Mini M2, an excellent computer for everything, especially for working, although as everyone who uses macOS knows, the catalog of games compatible with Apple’s operating system is very limited.

Although I have consoles and I’m thinking about buying a laptop, I miss playing on PC, especially strategy games, my favorites. My Hearts of Iron, Age of Empires or Bannerlord, and none of them are compatible with macOS, but I have seen a PC for less than 300 euros that can be used for this.

It is true that it is a Mini PC with Windows that is somewhat basic, but powerful as far as possible, with AMD Ryzen 7 and integrated Radeon graphics. It won’t allow me to run any very demanding games in 4K, but for strategy and resource management it is more than enoughand I don’t ask for more.

Virtually my entire Steam and Epic Games library is made up of games of that type, with Football Manager and the like, and if I get Game Pass for PC I’m going to play that, Stardew Valley and little else, so it’s well worth paying those 300 euros.

The good thing is that, although it is sold by AliExpress, this Mini PC does not come from China, but is already in Europe; specifically, in Germany. This is an advantage because the speed of delivery is greater as you do not have to stop at customs, one less problem.

16GB of RAM and SSD storage, but expandable

The advantage that desktop PCs have over laptops is that they are, to a certain extent, modular. You can open them and easily replace some of their components, such as the hard drive or RAM.

In the case of this ACEMAGIC AMR5, you can do it too, and that’s why you can add up to 64GB of RAM or use several SSDs at the same time.

It never hurts, especially if you are going to use it as a media server for Plex, Kodi and similar applications, in which case you will surely require several TB of storage to save video in 4K format.

It has a gaming touch in the design with RGB lights, although they say that nothing is written about tastes and at the end of the day there are those who like these things and those who don’t.
